Dundee & Angus

Where is it?

The city of Dundee and the countryside of Angus are found between Fife and Aberdeenshire on the east coast of Scotland.

Why visit?

There are all sorts of gems to discover in this part of Scotland, from a wide range of museums to historic sites such as Glamis Castle, the scene of Macbeth, ancient Arbroath Abbey, and the Angus Glens, the gateway into the Cairngorms.

Major cities/towns

Dundee

Dundee is a small city that packs a punch for its size. It’s the only Unesco City of Design in the UK and is home to the first V&A museum outside of London. It’s also where marmalade as we know it today was invented!

Known for

V&A Dundee

The first design museum in Scotland. It’s free to enter, although there are some paid exhibitions. They run a programme just for families with workshops and events centred around design.

Scottish Food

Some of the best produce in Scotland comes from Angus. Arbroath Smokies are a type of smoked haddock that is a specialty from the town of Arbroath, and have actually been given special status as a unique food that is protected by law.As well this, there’s also Dundee Cake and marmalade! Scottish Food is definitely a reason to visit.
